Two young men dead and two seriously injured in midnight motocross crash at birthday party in Cher

A collision between two motocross bikes near midnight killed two 19- and 20-year-olds and seriously wounded two others during a birthday celebration in Berry-Bouy, Cher.

In the early hours of Friday-Saturday, two motocross riders collided head-on on a road near Berry-Bouy, a commune in the Cher department, while a birthday party was taking place nearby. The impact killed a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, and left a 15-year-old and another 20-year-old with life-threatening injuries, prompting urgent transport to hospitals across the Centre-Val de Loire region. Firefighters responded with five engines and reported several other participants suffered less serious wounds.

Thierry Cardouat, the sub-prefect of Vierzon, arrived on site and called the event “absolutely dramatic.” Authorities activated a medical-psychological crisis cell at the local hall to support victims’ families and party guests. The prefecture confirmed the details to the national news agency.

Why it matters
