Tøyen Mineralvann Factory Declared Bankrupt Amid Ongoing Legal Disputes
Oslo District Court opened bankruptcy proceedings for Tøyen Mineralvann Factory, which faces unpaid obligations and a recent lawsuit over its Jalla brand.
On Wednesday, Oslo District Court initiated bankruptcy for Tøyen Mineralvann Factory, a beverage producer established in Gamle Oslo in 2014 that marketed Tøyen-Cola and various Jalla sodas. The company, now burdened with unpaid obligations, has been placed under the administration of trustee Pan Farmakis, who is assessing its financial situation. Earlier legal battles included a ruling that required the firm to rename its Jalla line after a lawsuit by The Coca-Cola Company, along with a compensation order.
Internal conflicts between co-founders Rikard Svensk and Jarle “J.J.” Hollerud, formerly of the Paperboys duo, culminated in Hollerud filing for bankruptcy, demanding a minimum of 715,000 kroner before interest. Svensk has indicated he may appeal the bankruptcy order before the October 16 deadline. Hollerud has also launched a new soft-drink venture in 2024, producing brands such as Olacola and Sitronola, and retains rights to the original trademarks.
