Typhoon Surigae advances toward Japan after recent storm damage
A new typhoon, Surigae, is moving north-northwest from south of Okinawa and could affect Honshu, officials warn.
The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that Typhoon Surigae, the season's 26th system, is tracking westward from east of the Philippines. It is expected to strengthen as it approaches the southern Japanese islands and may influence weather on Honshu. The agency urged residents to stay updated on the latest forecasts. The storm is moving at about 10 km/h with a central pressure of 1,000 hPa and winds up to 108 kph.
