U.S. airstrike hits Iranian wedding venue, killing four and injuring dozens
A U.S. military attack on the coastal town of Kuhestak in Iran’s Sirik County struck a wedding ceremony, killing four civilians and wounding more than 60 people.
Overnight, U.S. forces launched several missiles at Kuhestak, a town near the Strait of Hormuz, striking a building where a wedding was taking place. The Hormozgan governor’s office listed four victims - Amir Ali Karimi, Mohammad Malahi, Kolsoum Malahi and Zarkhatoun Taheri - and reported more than 60 injuries, many serious. Footage shows a telecom tower destroyed and a hole punched through the wedding venue’s roof, with debris and personal items scattered inside.
U.S. Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins said the reports of civilian casualties came from Iranian state media and reiterated that the U.S. does not target civilians, contrasting its actions with those of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Red Crescent Society condemned the attack, calling it a grave violation and seeking International Criminal Court intervention, while citing previous civilian strikes in Minab, Lamerd and elsewhere.
