U.S. approves $140 million sale of refurbished Black Hawk helicopters to Argentina
The United States will provide Argentina with four refurbished UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters and related gear in a $140 million deal.
Four refurbished UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, along with associated equipment, are set to be sold to Argentina for $140 million, according to a statement from the State Department. Ambassador Peter Lamelas posted on X that the staggered deliveries will strengthen Argentina’s defense and emergency-response capacity. The sale is framed as advancing U.S. foreign-policy interests and helping a major non-NATO ally improve border security, fight trans-national crime, and provide humanitarian assistance, while not altering the regional balance of power.
Sikorsky, part of Lockheed Martin, will provide the helicopters, the same firm that supplies Marine One. The deal comes amid recent tensions between President Donald Trump and the United Kingdom over the Falkland Islands, though it does not affect those disputes.
