U.S. Military Says Additional 60 Service Members Injured, Total Casualties Reach 776

The U.S. defense establishment disclosed that 60 additional service members have been wounded, lifting the total number of troops killed or injured in the Iran war to 776. Of these, 345 casualties occurred after a second cease-fire fell apart, and the latest spike follows Iranian attacks on roughly ten U.S. sites since early July. Contract filings reveal the Pentagon is seeking expanded mortuary and casualty-administrative services at locations including Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, Aviano Air Base in Italy, and Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The Army’s Fort Knox, which has handled the return of fallen soldiers such as Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, is pursuing casualty case-management support. Over 90 percent of the newest casualties are Army personnel, and the Department has been criticized for inconsistencies in its public casualty counts.
