U.S. Mint launches gold-colored $1 Trump coins priced between $1.55 and $2.44
The United States Mint began selling gold-toned one-dollar coins featuring Donald Trump’s portrait, with prices ranging from $1.55 to $2.44 each.
At noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, the United States Mint released a series of gold-colored one-dollar coins bearing Donald Trump’s portrait. The front side includes the inscriptions “Liberty,” “In God We Trust” and the date range “1776 ~ 2026,” while the back features the presidential seal with an eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, plus the figure “250” to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary. Prices start at about $1.55 per coin, with a 25-coin roll costing $61 and a 100-coin bag priced at $154.50.
Although current regulations typically allow only deceased individuals on currency, a 2020 law authorizes new designs for the semiquincentennial, enabling Trump’s image on the coin. The Mint notes the pieces are legal tender but are intended as collectible items, composed mainly of copper with small amounts of zinc, manganese, and nickel, and no actual gold. Additionally, 250,000 of the coins will randomly include a “July 4th” privy mark in the online sales packages.
