U2 Honored as MusiCares 2027 Persons of the Year at Los Angeles Gala
U2 - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. - have been named MusiCares’ 2027 Persons of the Year, with a ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Feb. 5, 2027.
U2 - comprised of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. - have been selected as MusiCares’ 2027 Persons of the Year, with the award ceremony scheduled for Feb. 5, 2027 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, two days before the Grammy Awards. MusiCares praised the band’s half-century of musical influence, 22 Grammy trophies and sales exceeding 170 million records, as well as their long-standing humanitarian initiatives.
Bono co-founded ONE and (RED) and helped launch the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief, while The Edge started Music Rising after Hurricane Katrina. Clayton, a past MusiCares Stevie Ray Vaughan Award recipient, has championed addiction and mental-health causes, and Mullen Jr. has promoted awareness of dyslexia through documentary production. The gala, produced by Lewis & Clark, will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and a tribute concert, with proceeds supporting MusiCares’ programs for health, addiction recovery, disaster relief and financial aid to music professionals.
