UAE pledges additional $25 billion for Indian projects, eyeing deeper energy ties
The United Arab Emirates announced plans to invest another $25 billion in India, aiming to boost overall UAE capital in the country and expand cooperation on energy security.
During the latest India-UAE Investment Task Force gathering in Mumbai, the United Arab Emirates confirmed it will add $25 billion of new investment to its existing portfolio in India, part of a broader ambition to raise total UAE capital in the country to $100 billion. The two sides are examining larger stakes in India's strategic petroleum reserves and the feasibility of subsea pipelines for gas transport and storage, while also looking to increase LPG and LNG supplies.
Trade between the nations has climbed to $100 billion and a target of $200 billion by 2032 has been set. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, now four years old, underpins this momentum. Additionally, transactions settled in local currencies are expanding at double-digit rates, signaling deeper financial integration.
Why it matters
The deal could reshape Indo-UAE economic ties and strengthen India's energy security.
