Uber adds solo senior accounts and Easy Entry vehicle option
Uber is expanding its senior rider program to let older users manage accounts independently and is testing a low-step vehicle option in nine markets.
Uber has updated its senior rider offering to include a standalone account option, removing the previous requirement for a connected family member account. The redesign introduces a dedicated settings page where seniors can adjust how drivers indicate arrival, switch to a streamlined user interface, and notify drivers of personal mobility devices such as canes or walkers. In addition, the company is testing a new vehicle classification called Easy Entry Vehicle, which prioritizes cars without high steps for easier boarding.
This feature can be requested by any user via the Accessibility settings during the pilot phase. The trial will run in nine markets, though Uber did not disclose their locations. Both changes aim to improve independence and accessibility for older passengers and those with limited mobility.
