Uber exits Serve Robotics, selling its entire ownership stake

Uber disclosed that it has sold all of its shares in autonomous-delivery firm Serve Robotics, ending a partnership that began after Uber acquired Postmates.

Uber announced through a regulatory filing that it has fully exited its investment in Serve Robotics, the autonomous sidewalk-delivery company that spun out of the former Postmates X unit after Uber’s 2020 acquisition of Postmates. Filings show Uber began trimming its stake in 2025, and the final sale surprised Serve, which only discovered the transaction upon official disclosure. The two firms have diverged on how to scale the shared robot fleet, with Serve’s CEO Ali Kashani citing differing views on coordination and merchant integration during a recent earnings call.

Serve also noted a sharp decline in robot utilization in the second quarter and a surge in deliveries with another partner, leading it to forego renewing the Uber partnership that ends in early 2027. Uber has not provided comment, and the divestiture marks the latest in a series of autonomous-vehicle investments the ride-hailing giant has made over recent years.

Why it matters

The sale ends Uber’s involvement in a key autonomous-delivery venture, reshaping its strategy in the fast-growing robot-delivery market.
