Uber expands ChatGPT Work to all 30,000 global employees

Uber announced that its entire workforce of roughly 30,000 staff will now use OpenAI's ChatGPT Work platform.

Uber confirmed that all of its approximately 30,000 employees across the globe will be given access to OpenAI's ChatGPT Work, an AI agent designed for corporate workflows. The move follows a pilot earlier in the year that involved 1,000 workers from finance, operations and product divisions, where about 80% of participants were non-engineers. According to Sumanth Sukumar, the tool has been used for data analysis, localization of training materials and creation of custom dashboards.

Uber has not revealed the financial outlay for the full-scale rollout but will track usage patterns and workflow outcomes to guide future AI integration. OpenAI collaborated closely with Uber on the integration, seeking to expand its enterprise business amid competition from rivals such as Anthropic.

Why it matters

The rollout shows how large firms are embedding AI tools across all roles to boost productivity.
