Ubisoft to shut RedLynx studio and cut up to 122 jobs in Singapore
Ubisoft announced plans to close its RedLynx studio in Finland and lay off about 70 staff at Ubisoft Singapore, affecting up to 122 workers overall.
Ubisoft disclosed a proposal to close its Finnish RedLynx studio, a move that could affect up to 52 jobs once the local change negotiation process is completed. Simultaneously, the firm will cut about 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, representing roughly 20% of its workforce, to align with upcoming production requirements. Both studios have been part of Ubisoft’s Creative Network division, providing support to other internal teams after a restructuring announced the previous year.
RedLynx, acquired in 2011 and known for the Trials series, last released a mobile puzzle title before its cancellation. Ubisoft Singapore, founded in 2008, contributed to naval combat in Assassin’s Creed and developed the delayed title Skull and Bones. The layoffs follow a broader cost-cutting drive that has already seen the cancellation of several games and the closure of other studios worldwide.
Why it matters
The cuts highlight Ubisoft's ongoing cost-reduction strategy, impacting hundreds of workers and reshaping its global development network.
