UCLA Computer Engineering Degree Ranks Among Top Ten Highest-Paying US Majors

A new HEA Group analysis places UCLA's Computer Engineering major as the sixth-most lucrative undergraduate degree in the United States.

Research firm the HEA Group released a ranking of the most lucrative undergraduate degrees in the United States, focusing on graduates who received federal financial aid and completed their studies in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 academic years. UCLA’s Computer Engineering program secured the sixth spot, with a median graduate salary of $228,705. The university’s annual cost for California residents is approximately $45,500, rising to $87,770 for out-of-state students when housing, food and other expenses are included.

Pomona College in Claremont also performed strongly, with its Computer Science graduates earning a median of $217,051. While East-coast schools fill most of the top-ten list, Stanford and UC Berkeley remain close, posting median earnings of $214,907 and $204,379 respectively. Nursing graduates from several California institutions rank within the top 100 of nearly 25,000 bachelor’s programs analyzed.
