UDMR deputy says Niculescu government could survive until elections or fall within months
Csoma Botond warned that the Niculescu cabinet might remain in power until the next parliamentary election, yet it could also be dismissed by a censure motion after only a few months.
UDMR spokesperson Csoma Botond told Digi24 that the future of Luca Niculescu's cabinet is uncertain, with the possibility of lasting until the next parliamentary elections or being ousted after a short tenure. He indicated that a censure motion could be filed as early as four months and could succeed within six months, potentially toppling the executive. The comments came on the same day that hearings for the proposed ministers start, ahead of the confidence vote scheduled for Tuesday.
While liberal parties have signaled they will not launch a censure motion for a certain period, they may still support simple motions targeting specific ministers. Botond stressed that such simple motions are largely symbolic and do not compel a minister to resign. He concluded that both scenarios—survival to the elections or early dismissal—remain plausible.
