UEFA has opened formal proceedings against Fenerbahçe players Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood for alleged provocative gestures toward Olympique Lyonnais fans during the Champions League playoff.

UEFA confirmed that disciplinary action is being taken against Fenerbahçe's Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood after the second-leg Champions League playoff at Olympique Lyonnais. Both players are accused of directing provocative gestures toward the home crowd, an act that led to a scuffle when Guendouzi left the pitch. Fenerbahçe issued a statement pledging to present defenses to protect the rights of its players and the club throughout the process.

A UEFA spokesperson added that the entire match is still subject to disciplinary review. Despite the controversy, Fenerbahçe secured a 2-1 victory in the second leg, completing a 3-2 aggregate win to reach the league phase.
