UEFA rejects Ireland's request to keep Israel apart in future draws

The FAI approached UEFA seeking to separate the Republic of Ireland from Israel in future tournament draws, following their pairing in the February Nations League draw. UEFA replied that such requests are handled case by case, with security conditions between the nations being the primary factor. It noted that no direct conflict exists between Ireland and Israel, so the request could not be accommodated.
The FAI's chief executive David Courell confirmed the denial, while the Israel Football Association's communications chief Shlomi Barzel asked for clarification on whether an official request had been made at all. Barzel added that the IFA is concentrating on professional preparations rather than speculative statements. UEFA reiterated that it monitors all relevant facts and developments before making draw decisions.
