UIDAI aims to boost Aadhaar authentications to up to 300 million daily
UIDAI chairman Neelkantha Mishra announced plans to increase Aadhaar authentications from roughly 100 million to 250-300 million per day.
At the Global Fintech Festival 2026, UIDAI chairman Neelkantha Mishra said Aadhaar is set to scale daily authentications from the current 100 million to between 250 and 300 million. Over 600 organisations now integrate Aadhaar, marking a transition from its initial government-focused role to widespread commercial use driven by trust and convenience. The Aadhaar app, now close to 60 million downloads, lets users modify personal data digitally, creating a feedback loop that encourages further business integration.
UIDAI is also drafting a ten-year technology roadmap that prioritises post-quantum cryptography, AI-based fraud detection, and potential authentication services for Indians abroad. Mishra warned of daily cyber-attack attempts and highlighted efforts to build a hyperscaler-grade backend infrastructure while exploring a World Bank knowledge hub to share India’s digital-public-infrastructure experience.
