UK and US Forge AI and Fusion Pact to Accelerate Clean Energy

During the Global Fusion Summit in London, the United Kingdom and the United States are set to sign two formal accords that deepen cooperation on artificial intelligence and fusion power. One agreement creates a supercomputing collaboration linking the UK Atomic Energy Authority with the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory to combine AI, advanced computing and fusion expertise. A parallel joint statement pledges tighter regulatory coordination to stimulate financing and sector expansion.

British officials highlighted the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor’s role and projected the fusion industry could support over 10,000 UK jobs by 2030. Prior to the summit, £2.63 million was granted to the University of Birmingham, the Electric Power Research Institute and partners for fusion-material work, while Japan’s Kyoto Fusioneering pledged up to £3 million through Project Albion. The UK also released a fusion investment prospectus as part of a £2.5 billion five-year government commitment.
