Saturday and Sunday are expected to be markedly cooler, with most areas posting highs of 16 °C-24 °C, while some locations in south-east England might still touch 27 °C-28 °C. This cooling follows an extreme heat spell that produced the 39th day of 30 °C+ temperatures and marked the ninth historic occurrence of 37 °C+ in the UK, three of which occurred in 2026.
The weather change also raises the likelihood of rain in drought-affected zones, particularly in north-west Scotland and East Anglia. Forecasts suggest the milder, more variable pattern will persist through August, with no major heatwaves anticipated for the remainder of the month.
