UK daylight-saving clocks will turn back an hour a day earlier in 2026

The United Kingdom will set clocks back one hour at the end of October 2026, ending British Summer Time a day sooner than in 2025.

In 2026 the United Kingdom will roll clocks back by one hour at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October, marking the conclusion of British Summer Time and the start of Greenwich Mean Time. This adjustment occurs a day earlier than the change made in 2025. Digital devices such as smartphones and smartwatches will update themselves, whereas traditional clocks must be turned back manually.

The earlier sunset will mean darker evenings, though residents will gain an additional hour of nighttime rest. According to timeanddate.com, sunset in London will move from around 6:12 p.m. in mid-October to roughly 4:46 p.m. by the time the clocks change. The next forward shift to summer time is scheduled for March 2027.
