UK government orders public inquiry into Manchester synagogue killings

Britain's interior minister announced a public inquiry into the deaths of two Jewish men killed during the 2025 Manchester synagogue attack.

The inquiry will examine the fatal attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue that occurred on Yom Kippur in October 2025, when Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz were killed. Police say Jihad Al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent, claimed to act for Islamic State before being shot dead. Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood said the investigation will allow all evidence, including sensitive national-security material, to be heard.

Why it matters

The inquiry seeks accountability and insight into a high-profile terrorist attack that targeted a religious community.
