UK launches massive study to probe early‑onset bowel cancer
Britain is launching the Prospect‑UK trial, a nationwide research project that aims to enroll 250,000 volunteers to investigate the rise in bowel cancer among adults younger than 50. The study is coordinated by King's College London and the health‑science company Zoe and will collect online surveys on diet, daily habits, environmental exposures and wellbeing. A selected subgroup will keep detailed food logs and provide blood and stool samples, with all participants consenting to link their responses to electronic health records. The effort follows data showing a substantial increase in early‑onset bowel cancer cases in the 25‑49 age group.
