UK security ministers to brief critical infrastructure leaders on Russian hybrid threats

In response to what officials describe as an escalating Russian campaign against the United Kingdom, Dan Jarvis will convene a closed-door briefing for heads of critical-infrastructure organisations, while Louise Sandher-Jones will lead a separate session for defence-sector leaders. Both meetings, organized by the Cabinet Office, will rely on high-grade intelligence to detail Moscow's use of cyber intrusions, sabotage plots and coordinated disinformation aimed at undermining public confidence and operational continuity.

The briefings follow Prime Minister Andy Burnham's recent UN address condemning Russian hybrid warfare and his order to create a unit to combat large-scale disinformation. Additional protective measures announced include policing support from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, cyber assistance from the National Cyber Security Centre, and guidance from the National Protective Security Authority. The urgency is underscored by the recent charging of Joshua Cammidge under the National Security Act for alleged sabotage planning linked to a suspected GRU affiliate.
