UK urges British nationals to limit travel to Saudi Arabia amid security threats
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office now advises British citizens to avoid all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, keeping a specific ban on areas within 10 km of the Yemen border.
British officials have broadened their travel advisory, urging citizens to refrain from non-essential trips to any part of Saudi Arabia. The warning maintains a prohibition on travel within 10 km of the Yemen frontier, reflecting ongoing security concerns. The FCDO highlights a heightened threat to airports, military installations, ports and energy infrastructure across major Saudi cities, including Abha, Jizan, Najran, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Yanbu, and warns that Red Sea shipping could also be affected.
It predicts that further attacks on airports are very likely, and specifically advises against using Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport until safety can be assured. Those needing to leave the kingdom are recommended to travel overland to a neighbouring state and fly out from there. The advisory reflects the UK’s assessment of escalating regional tensions.
