Ukraine air‑lifts wounded soldier from Kharkiv front using modified bomber drone while testing new evacuation drone
A wounded infantryman known as “Kostya” was lifted from the Kharkiv front by a modified bomber drone after ground rescue was blocked by Russian kamikaze FPV drones and mines. The lift was piloted by a member of the 30th Mechanised Brigade and overseen by the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade’s unmanned systems unit. After the drone landed, the soldier was taken to a medical facility for treatment. In a separate field trial, SkyFall demonstrated its StarGate evacuation drone. Both events show Ukrainian efforts to employ unmanned systems for battlefield medical evacuation.
Why it matters
The operations illustrate how Ukraine is using innovative drone technology to rescue wounded troops where traditional ground evacuation is impossible.
