Ukraine expands deployment of Hyena unmanned ground robots along front line
Mechanic known as Chimera is fitting four‑wheel unmanned ground vehicles called Hyenas with explosive payloads in workshops run by Ukraine’s Third Army Corps. The robots are now observed along the 1,200‑kilometre front, where they are used to attack Russian positions and to seize prisoners. They can also carry ammunition, supplies and evacuate injured fighters.
Andrij Bileckij, commander of the Third Army, described the expansion as a new “revolution” in warfare and said the goal is to replace roughly a third of frontline troops with such systems. Operators control the vehicles from underground command posts and coordinate with aerial drones using platforms such as Discord.
