Ukraine hits Russian Tolyatti rubber plant and Yeysk airfield in latest drone raid

Ukrainian forces struck the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant in Tolyatti and damaged an aircraft at Yeysk airfield, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.

Ukraine’s military announced that drones targeted the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast, causing an explosion and a blaze at the site that manufactures synthetic rubbers, monomers and high-octane gasoline additives. These rubbers are a component of solid rocket propellant for tactical and ballistic missiles, and the General Staff said the attack could disrupt Russia’s missile-program supply chain. In the same operation, an aircraft at the Yeysk airfield in Krasnodar Krai was struck, though officials have not detailed the type of aircraft or the damage level.

Residents captured footage of smoke over the city, and Telegram monitoring channels reported multiple factory fires and an evacuation at the nearby AvtoVAZ car plant. The Tolyattikauchuk complex has been hit before, notably on Sept. 12 and Apr. 4, and Ukrainian channel Exilenova+ described a “military-purpose plant” on fire. One outlet could not independently verify the reports. The incident reflects the ongoing escalation of long-range drone strikes on Russian industrial assets.

Why it matters

The strike targets a key supplier of materials for Russia's missile production, potentially affecting its war capability.
