Ukraine reports nearly 1.52 million Russian personnel casualties since 2022 invasion
Ukraine's General Staff says Russian forces have lost about 1,517,990 troops and extensive equipment since the war began, including 1,560 casualties in the last day.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that Russian forces have suffered 1,517,990 personnel casualties since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, with 1,560 of those occurring in the latest day. Equipment losses reported include 12,356 tanks, 25,361 armored combat vehicles, 151,345 vehicles and fuel tanks, 50,067 artillery systems, 2,146 multiple-launch rocket systems, 1,659 air-defence systems, 442 aircraft, 356 helicopters, 2,695 unmanned ground vehicles, 35 ships and boats, and two submarines.
Ukraine did not disclose its own casualty figures, citing operational secrecy. Western think-tank analyses, such as a CSIS study, suggest Russian losses are significantly higher than Ukrainian ones, estimating a ratio of roughly 2.5:1 to 2:1. A CSIS report from January 2026 placed Ukrainian casualties between 500,000 and 600,000, with 100,000 to 140,000 fatalities.
