Ukraine thanks Romania as first honorary consulate opens in Apahida
Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister Oleksandr Mischenko thanked Romania for early war aid and called it a strategic partner during the inauguration of Ukraine’s first honorary consulate in Apahida, Cluj.
During the launch of Ukraine’s first honorary consulate in Apahida, deputy foreign minister Oleksandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to Romania for its prompt assistance following the Russian attack and described Bucharest as a strategic ally of Kyiv. He announced that Ukrainian authorities will work to ensure the Romanian minority in Ukraine enjoys full rights and feels at home. Mischenko also highlighted the need to support Ukrainian schools and cultural institutions in Romania, noting the mutual presence of both minorities. The ceremony featured ambassador Ihor Prokopchuk, Cluj County prefect Maria Forna, vice-president of the Cluj County Council Vakar Istvan, and Radu Rațiu, alongside diplomatic, academic and business representatives.
