Ukrainian drones damage Russian cargo aircraft and oil refinery in night raids

President Volodimir Zelenszkij reported that Ukrainian forces used drones to strike a Russian oil refinery and damage three cargo planes and three helicopters at the Rostov military airfield.

In a Thursday post, Zelenszkij thanked Ukrainian troops for intensifying the conflict with Russia. He said drones hit the Jaroszlavli oil refinery, causing a fire that was only extinguished by morning. He also announced a separate drone attack on the Rostov military airfield that damaged an An-12, two An-26 cargo planes and three helicopters. Video footage showed multiple large explosions at the airfield, and Zelenszkij highlighted successes on the Black Sea front as well.

Why it matters

The strikes show Ukraine's growing ability to hit strategic Russian military and energy targets, affecting the war's dynamics.
