Ukrainian drones hit ammunition depot near Khrustalnyi in occupied Luhansk
Ukrainian forces used strike drones overnight on Oct. 27 to attack an ammunition depot near the occupied city of Khrustalnyi in Luhansk Oblast.
On the night of Oct. 27, Ukrainian strike drones targeted an ammunition storage site near the city of Khrustalnyi, setting off multiple explosions, according to the monitoring channel Exilenova Plus. The city, occupied by Russian forces and their proxies since 2014, is situated roughly 65 kilometres southwest of Luhansk. The operation lasted several hours and is described as part of Ukraine's ongoing effort to degrade Russian war-fighting capacity by hitting deep-inside targets.
In the same period, Ukrainian drones have struck a petrochemical plant in Omsk and a warehouse of the online retailer Ozon. Additionally, a dual-use chemical plant and a business centre in Voronezh were reportedly hit in separate drone attacks, according to the Russian outlet Astra. These actions illustrate an expanding pattern of long-range Ukrainian drone operations against Russian infrastructure.
Why it matters
The strike shows Ukraine's ability to hit Russian-held logistics sites far from the front, affecting the war's supply chain.
