Ukrainian drones spark fire at Russian military airfield in Rostov

Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale drone assault on the Russian city of Rostov-na-Donu, targeting a military airfield near the Ukrainian border. The attack ignited a fire on a parking zone for military planes and helicopters, which authorities said was extinguished promptly. Governor Jurij Sljusar reported that over 50 drones were shot down during the raid and confirmed that there were no deaths or injuries.

In a concurrent operation, drones also struck an oil refinery in the city of Jaroslavl, about 250 km northeast of Moscow; Governor Mikhali Jevrajev said 65 drones were downed and the refinery sustained damage, though no casualties were reported. Social-media footage showed a sizable blaze at the airfield, contradicting official claims that the fire was quickly contained. The incidents underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict along Russia’s southwestern and central regions.
