Ukrainian forces use drones to deliver four tons of aid to occupied Oleshky
Ukrainian troops employed drones to drop around 400 packages containing food, medicine and children’s supplies into the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky.
In a night-time operation, Ukrainian soldiers from the 11th Mykhailo Hrushevsky Brigade and the 34th Kherson Regiment of the National Guard used drones to transport roughly 400 parcels weighing close to four tons into Oleshky, a city under Russian control. The cargo included food, medicines and supplies for children, marking the second successful aid drop into the area. Foreign Minister Sybiha highlighted that the mission shows how contemporary military capabilities can sustain civilian life in hostile territory and expressed admiration for the National Guard, marines and border guards involved.
According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, Oleshky has not received food shipments since May 26. Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin reported that Russian forces are holding about 2,000 people hostage, among them nearly 50 children, who lack food, electricity and water.
Why it matters
The delivery shows Ukraine can bypass blockades to provide essential aid to civilians in occupied territories.
