Ukrainian frozen raspberry imports surge, squeezing Polish producers

Ukrainian frozen raspberries are increasingly dominating the Polish market, according to ministry statistics that record a substantial jump in imports for 2025 compared with the year before. Between January and May 2026, Poland received 6.79 thousand tonnes of Ukrainian frozen raspberries valued at 119.5 million zł, reflecting a 68.2 % rise over the same period last year. Industry leaders say Polish raspberry acreage, especially for processing, is declining, leaving local firms vulnerable.

A cold-storage plant in Lublin voivodeship has staged a hunger strike, citing the “tragic” impact of cheaper Ukrainian fruit on its operations. Meanwhile, Ukrainian processor West Berry opened a 10 thousand m² facility near the border, capable of handling about 140 tonnes per day, with half of its export volume destined for Poland.
