Ukrainian interceptor drone hits Russian Geran-5 at over 425 km/h

Thermal imagery posted by the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation captured a Ukrainian interceptor drone approaching a Russian Geran-5 attack drone at high altitude. The Ukrainian 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment, based in the Poltava region, employed a newly designed interceptor meant for jet-powered targets, and the video cuts off just before contact, suggesting a near-perfect hit. The Geran-5, described as a Russian version of the Iranian Karrar, can reportedly fly up to 373 mph, but the Ukrainian interception occurred at about 425 km/h (264 mph).

This speed exceeds the record of a Formula 1 car and the 200 mph speed of the Shinkansen. Ukrainian defence officials have been testing multiple interceptor drone models, including winged, catapult-launched types, while manufacturers such as Wild Hornets are also showcasing jet-powered interceptors like the Sting-S.
