Ukrainian sea drone downed Russian Shahed-type UAV in the Black Sea
A Ukrainian-operated sea drone equipped with a Kongsberg combat tower shot down a Russian Shahed-derived drone over the Black Sea, marking the first such kill.
For the first time, a remotely controlled sea drone fitted with a Kongsberg combat tower successfully intercepted a Russian drone in the Black Sea. The downed UAV was a newer, jet-powered version of Iran-supplied Shahed drones that Russia now manufactures itself. Earlier models used small motorcycle engines, but the latest variants carry larger warheads and cause significant damage in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces posted video evidence of the engagement on Telegram.
Why it matters
