Ukrainian sea drone ignites fire at Sochi port, injuring several people

A Ukrainian unmanned surface vessel struck the port area of Sochi on Sept. 9, sparking a blaze and wounding eight residents.

On Sept. 9, a Ukrainian unmanned surface vessel reportedly struck the port embankment in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, igniting a fire that injured eight people. Officials in Russia's Krasnodar Krai confirmed the incident and described damage to port facilities and a nearby restaurant, Chernomorskaya Zharovnya. Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin called on residents to remain calm and take shelter as emergency services tackled the blaze.

The blast forced the evacuation of a concert by Russian singer Tatyana Bulanova, who is known for supporting the war. Footage shared by locals and monitoring channel Supernova+ shows large flames and crowds seeking safety. One outlet could not independently verify the extent of the damage, and reports rely on local video and statements.
