Ukrainian Wild Hornets claims new Sting S interceptor shot down dozen Russian drones and missiles
Ukrainian drone producer Wild Hornets reports that its newly tested Sting S interceptor has destroyed roughly twelve Russian Geran-4 drones and several Geran-5 mini-missiles in combat conditions.
Wild Hornets, a Ukrainian manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems, announced that its latest interceptor, the Sting S, has already proven effective in combat testing by shooting down about twelve Russian Geran-4 drones and several Geran-5 mini-missiles. The system is a high-speed quadcopter specifically engineered to counter reaction-type UAVs and cruise missiles. According to the firm, most of the targets were eliminated using its Hornet Vision Ctrl control technology.
While the exact technical data are being kept confidential pending mass-production, the company expressed confidence that the interceptor can be rolled out to combat units early in its serial manufacturing phase. The statement was made in an interview with Militarnyi. If deployed widely, the Sting S could enhance Ukraine's air-defence capabilities against Russian drone swarms.
Why it matters
The interceptor could boost Ukraine's ability to defend against Russian drone and missile attacks.
