UN says Gaza still grapples with water, shelter and economic woes

Acting UN Special Coordinator for the West Asia Peace Process and Humanitarian Coordinator Ramez Alakbarov told reporters that Gaza’s humanitarian crisis remains complex, with persistent problems in water, sanitation, shelter and waste disposal. Although food deliveries have improved, the population still relies heavily on aid and cash assistance because the labour market has not recovered. The UN continues to support health services, debris clearance, education for over 300,000 children in temporary learning spaces, and assistance to farmers.

UNRWA remains active in the enclave despite imposed restrictions. More than 8,000 individuals are still listed as missing after the conflict’s destruction.
