Unauthorized drone spotted near Poland's key U.S. missile defense base
A civilian drone was detected flying close to the strategic U.S. missile-defence installation in Redzików, prompting a military response but no interception.
Polish officials said a civilian drone breached the restricted airspace surrounding the Redzików installation, a critical component of the U.S. missile-defence shield in Poland. The aircraft was spotted by reconnaissance systems about 500 metres from the base and stayed aloft for roughly five minutes. Military personnel did not attempt to shoot it down; instead, a duty officer called emergency services and followed standard procedures, notifying the police and other agencies.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed the drone's operator was located and that the flight was observed under full control, with no approach to sensitive structures. The incident was described as a violation of the no-drone zone but not a security danger.
