Unexploded hand grenade found at central Athens coffee shop, traffic halted
Police, firefighters and electricity workers responded to a hand-grenade incident at a well-known café on Acharnon Street in Athens; the device did not detonate.
Authorities were alerted to an unexploded hand grenade thrown into a popular coffee-shop chain on Acharnon Street. The grenade, described as a defensive type, failed to explode. Police, fire crews and TEEM technicians arrived, and army specialists are expected to neutralise the device. Traffic on Acharnon Street and nearby Feron and Ioulianou streets has been suspended.
