Unger Anna discusses threats, criticism and future work of the anti-corruption office

Unger Anna explained that the anti-corruption office intends to shield its personnel from any outside intimidation, promising legal guarantees for their work. She noted that, if necessary, the office will take steps to secure legal protection, while acknowledging Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s background in law. Responding to criticism from former opposition MP Ákos Hadházy about her application’s ranking, Unger highlighted that the leak of application documents breaches data-protection rules and is unlawful.

She described the office’s initial investigative focus as covering four thematic areas, with case selection delegated to deputy investigative chief Katalin Tasnády. Security protocols will keep staff identities hidden, and the office will communicate results only when legally permissible, often limiting public detail to protect ongoing investigations.
