Unidentified elderly woman found dead in Liverpool park; police seek clues

On Friday, August 28, a member of the public alerted Merseyside Police to a black bin bag hidden in the walled garden of Stanley Park, Liverpool. When officers arrived, they found the body of a woman, likely placed there weeks earlier, possibly since early July. Forensic analysis shows she was between 60 and 80 years old, of slight build, with strawberry-blonde hair, standing about 5 ft 2 in, and wearing a pink Nike T-shirt.

She suffered from severe malnutrition, osteoporosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and arthritis, and had no teeth, preventing dental record checks. A DNA profile has been generated but yields no match in the national database, leaving her identity unknown. Detectives have opened a murder inquiry and continue to appeal for information, noting that around 200 people have already responded to door-to-door enquiries.
