Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviews Delhi police performance and security challenges
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Delhi Police headquarters to assess law-and-order issues and ongoing investigations in the capital.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a Saturday afternoon trip to the Delhi Police headquarters on Jai Singh Road, arriving at about 3 pm. Senior police officials presented a review of the department’s overall performance, current investigations and key law-enforcement challenges. Topics on the agenda include the recent Cockroach Janta Party protests, anti-drug initiatives, actions against foreign-based gangster groups and violence targeting women.
The meeting follows heightened scrutiny of the police after accusations of excessive force during the CJP’s "Sansad Chalo" march in July. Sources said Shah’s presence is also intended to raise the force’s morale, which has been under pressure. This marks Shah’s first visit to the headquarters since August 2022.
Why it matters
The minister’s review could shape Delhi’s policing policies and address public concerns over recent protest handling.
