United Airlines unveils record summer route expansion and new A321XLR service

United Airlines rolled out its summer schedule, introducing service to ten new European markets, including Marseille, Luxembourg, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Sicily, many of which will operate seasonally from March onward. New permanent hub routes feature a year-round Boeing 787 link between Denver and Paris beginning May 27, and a thrice-weekly Boeing 777 flight from San Francisco to Okinawa starting March 27.

The carrier will showcase its Airbus A321XLR on domestic routes in September, with the aircraft’s first international flights from Washington Dulles to Amsterdam and Dublin scheduled for December 1. Patrick Quayle emphasized United’s lead over American and Delta in international reach, noting the airline now serves more than 160 overseas destinations. He also mentioned the cancellation of the Dulles-Senegal service due to underperformance and confirmed no new Scandinavian routes will be added. Ticket sales for the new routes open this Thursday.
