United Hatzalah chief meets Defense Minister to boost emergency coordination

Eli Beer, who founded United Hatzalah, met Israel Katz, the country’s defense minister, at the Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv to explore ways to strengthen ties between the volunteer medical service and Israel’s defense and emergency structures. The discussion centered on improving joint response capabilities during wartime, major disasters, and other national emergencies, where swift medical aid can be decisive. Beer praised the volunteers’ performance during the Oct. 7 attacks and the subsequent conflict, noting their willingness to leave families and head to the most needed areas.

Katz, recalling more than two decades of interaction with United Hatzalah, affirmed the organization’s critical role in the nation’s emergency framework. Both agreed that ongoing assessment and tighter coordination are essential to enhance preparedness and protect more citizens.
