United starts daily $200 ultra-short service between Los Angeles and Bakersfield

United Airlines revived a California corridor on August 11, providing daily flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Bakersfield’s Meadows Field for a fare of just over $200. The journey spans about 109 miles and takes roughly an hour from gate-to-gate, though most of that time is spent on the ground rather than in the air. Departures leave LAX at 10:43 a.m., with a return flight from Bakersfield scheduled for 2:03 p.m. Kern County’s chief communications officer, Erin Briscoe-Clarke, highlighted the service as a stress-free alternative to the region’s notorious freeway congestion and costly airport parking.
