Unlicensed Bronx Spa Owner Charged with Murder After Patient Dies from Anti-Aging Injection

Bronx spa operator Luis Rojas Cabrera was upgraded to a depraved-indifference murder charge after 27-year-old Elizabeth Baron died from an air embolism during an NAD+ anti-aging infusion.

Luis Rojas Cabrera, a 55-year-old unlicensed spa owner in the Bronx, now faces a depraved-indifference murder indictment after Elizabeth Baron, 27, collapsed during a trendy NAD+ anti-aging infusion on July 19. The procedure, administered at his Bereshit Lifestyle Center, unintentionally introduced air into Baron's bloodstream, leading to a fatal cardiac embolism. Earlier charges of reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice remained pending while authorities awaited the autopsy.

Rojas Cabrera halted the IV and performed manual CPR, later asserting that prolonged resuscitation could introduce air, a claim not supported by one outlet’s report. Assistant District Attorney Ethan Reisbaum emphasized that NAD+ infusions require a medical prescription, underscoring the illegal nature of the treatment. The case highlights the dangers of unregulated anti-aging therapies that have gained popularity among celebrities.
