UP and PUP students plan coordinated walkouts to protest corruption and budget cuts

Students at several University of the Philippines and Polytechnic University of the Philippines campuses will walk out on Friday to denounce government corruption and upcoming 2027 budget reductions.

On Friday, September 18, pupils at UP’s Diliman, Los Baños and Mindanao campuses will stage timed walkouts, while PUP students from Manila, Santo Tomas, Taguig City, Santa Rosa and Quezon City will join the protest. The actions are organized by each campus’ student council or the Office of the Student Regent. Demonstrators aim to highlight perceived corruption and the threat of cuts to university funding slated for 2027.
